I live in Singapore.  Don't go to The Flyer.  It's just a slow moving ferris wheel that charges you 30 SGD for a 30min ride the last time I checked.  If you can get to a high floor of a hotel, you'll get a good bird's eye view of this country.

If you wanna get a good view of spore city or heritage places, try the hippo bus sightseeing tour. It's quite fun. Only $33 for one full day. It's free and easy as well.

Take the train to visit one of the residential towns. There you can enjoy cheap local food at hawker centres. shop, and see how their wet markets (open only in the morning) are like.
